Box Office And THE ODYSSEY Is Big

You may or may not know this, but Christopher Nolan has a new movie out called The Odyssey. You’re forgiven if you haven’t heard of it; there’s been very little advertising or discussion online about it.

The Odyssey caused controversy with its casting, but was this all a ruse? A lot of people were going to boycott the movie, but did that make any difference at the box office?

The movie earned $124 million this weekend, which is the third-best opening for one of Nolan’s movies. The Dark Knight earned $158 million, and The Dark Knight Rises $160 million.

Oppenheimer had an opening weekend at the box office with $82 million, but then went on to make almost a billion as time went on.

The Odyssey is scoring very well with critics and audiences. Even Ben Shapiro gave it a positive review. Was Nolan ‘playing a game’ with the casting? People say that the screen time for the controversial casting is literally minutes, in a 3-hour movie.

Did Nolan do the casting just to cause a stir?

Moana Flops

The Disney live-action remake of Moana sank to second place at the box office, dropping by 56%. It means the total for the movie is a total of $82 million. It’s thought that Moana will lose about $100 million, making the loss on the same scale as Snow White.

They cannot keep doing this; they are haemorrhaging money.

Well, Toy Story 5 is still bringing in the readies, with a total of $430 million at the box office. Minions and Monsters is slightly underwhelming at a total of $137 million.

Evil Dead Drops

Evil Dead Burn has also had a nosedive in takings, dropping 64% and making just $5 million this weekend. So far, the domestic total for Evil Dead Burn is $24 million.

It’s not the end for horror, as even though it headed to streaming, Obsession is still making money at the box office.
