The last cocktails have been served, and the last hookers have stumbled from hotel suites. CinemaCon is over, but not before another round of panels revealed yet more details from upcoming movies to the crowd of cinema owners. This time it was Disney, who first showed off a new Predator movie.
Yeah, we will never get used to saying that.
Elle Fanning took to the stage for the unveiling of Dan Trachtenberg’s Predator: Badlands. It sounds like it takes some inspiration from the old Alien vs. Predator comics, as this time around a human will team up with a Predator.
The Predator is exiled from his planet and is aiming to fight his way back, while Fanning plays Thia, a woman who teams up with him and seeks her own redemption. So what is the buzz? Apparently there were spectacular visuals and a slightly redesigned Predator, like in the recent Prey.
Predator: Badlands will be released in cinemas on November 7.
Disney also showed off Tron: Ares with Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges on stage. There was a laser show, and some of the score by Nine Inch Nails was used. The clip they showed featured some light cycles evading police on a bridge.
Tron: Ares is released on October 10th.
Disney was still not done, with footage from James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire & Ash which showed the Sully family on board floating airships coming under attack by the ash people’s flying raiders. Other footage showed the characters to be played by David Thewlis and Oona Chaplin, and humans returning to Pandora again.
Footage from Zootopia 2 was shown, as was a trailer for the War Of The Roses remake The Roses showing Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman.
In other CinemaCon related news, the clip from Superman that was shown at the WB panel is now online, and you can find a link to it in the Disqus of the Superman article from yesterday courtesy of Outposter Klaatu.
