Seriously. Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential), a Hollywood heavyweight and Oscar winner, is writing the script for Django/Zorro, a project set up at Sony Pictures.
The project is rumored to be a movie-based continuation of a seven issue comic that was co-written by Quentin Tarantino with Matt Wagner.

Yet again, Tarantino manages to “do a sequel” without actually doing a sequel!
Django/Zorro follows Django, the former slave and now bounty hunter, as he encounters Zorro on his travels, and forms a bond with him.
This version of Zorro is Don Diego de la Vega, the character Anthony Hopkins played in 1998’s The Mask of Zorro. There is no word yet on whether Hopkins, or indeed Jamie Foxx, are planning to return in any capacity. It is still early days.
The project is classed as being in early script development, and all we know is that Tarantino has given his blessing, but will not be directing.
It is said to follow the comic series, not re-tell that story.Deadline Reports that the project was stalled in the past, when the comic was first released, by some rights issues.
