John Wick was a great new IP and it refreshed the action genre, it was great fun at the start. Because it did so well, there are now 4 movies, with a 5th on the way, a spinoff in the form of Ballerina, and now, we’re getting a movie about Caine.
Caine was Donnie Yen’s character from John Wick 4, you know, the blind guy. I’m pretty sure the blind swordsman thing has been done before. Rutger Hauer did it in Blind Fury. I need to sit down and watch that again now.

I think that teaser is giving away too many spoilers. I didn’t know he had a sword in his cane. The events of this new movie are taking place after John Wick 4, with Caine now freed from his obligations to the High Table.
The only confirmed details are that Yen is directing, the writers are Robert Askins, Michael McGrale and Mattson Tomlin. Those three have credits that include Terminator Zero, The Umbrella Academy and The Rip.
Included in the cast is Rina Sawayama, who will be back as Akira, again, from John Wick 4.
Yen said about the character:
“What drew me to Caine is the contradiction. He carries love, responsibility, and sacrifice in a world built on consequence. That creates a very different kind of action hero.”
As we know, John Wick 5 is on the way, and Yen is currently working on IP Man 4. It looks like Caine won’t exactly be new, as it’s set in the John Wick universe. Here’s hoping it will do a little better than Ballerina.
