It’s here… and it’s spectacular. The third, and final, full trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part Two dropped about ten minutes ago and here it is for the delight and delectation of our Outposters.

Picking up where Dune Part One ended, Paul Atreides and the Fremen go on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed House Atreides, revealing the roots of the conspiracy to be galaxy-wide, and stretching to the Emperor himself. The fate of the known universe will rest in his hands, and he starts to receive visions of a truly terrible future that he may become responsible for.

Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Stephen McKinley Henderson return and are joined by Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, and Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot.

As we reported earlier today, it is now Villeneuve’s longest movie.

Dune-Part-Two

Villeneuve has already confirmed that he has started writing Dune Part Three. He said in an interview with Empire magazine:

“If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream, Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero, which is not what he wanted to do. My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning.”

If it does happen, the Messiah-spanning Dune: Part Three would mark the end of Villeneuve’s time on Arrakis.

“After that the books become more… esoteric.”
