I had the chance to sit down and talk to Natja Brunckhorst, the director of Two to One, for which we recently had a trailer for.
We had an email saying she was up for an interview, I replied, and we got something sorted. I had been sent a screener of Two to One and watched it for the interview and a review. You can read my review here, basically, it’s a very good movie.
Natja sat down with me and did the interview last week, and she was a delight to talk to. Natja is German, but her English is very good, much better than my German, as you will hear in a moment.
She is a screenwriter, actor and director. She was cast in Christiane F. at the age of 13, which has cult status. David Bowie starred in the movie and did the soundtrack. I’m not familiar with it, but it will go on the watchlist.
She studied drama in England, Paris and the German Schauspielschule Bochum. The interview is mostly about Two to One, which is the third movie she has directed. Anyway, enough from me, here is the interview.
The Interview
Wasn’t she interesting? She was really funny, and you can tell she had a genuine love of movies. Some of the movies and actors she mentioned weren’t familiar to me, but that’s simply because she grew up in Germany.
It was nice to hear she was influenced by things like Monty Python and other bits of British humour. During the interview, I couldn’t have chatted with her all day; a very nice person and a very accomplished director.
Two to One will be in British cinemas on the 2nd of May, and it’s a great ‘feel good’ movie, which I genuinely liked. And I’m not just saying that because I interviewed Natja.
