EXTRACTION 3 Enters Production

Remember way back at the start of COVID, when theaters were shuttered, but streaming was flying? Into this entertainment landscape came Extraction, and it was absolutely massive for Netflix. The Chris Hemsworth-led actioner gave them some of their highest numbers ever.

Its simple, no-nonsense, straightforward action approach also won over fans. A sequel followed, and people were punched while on fire. Sometimes, that is all you need.

Now Hemsworth has confirmed that shooting is underway on Extraction 3. Hemsworth is back as the excellently named former black ops specialist turned mercenary Tyler Rake, and from this point on this shit basically writes itself.

Idris Elba returns as the shadowy Alcott, and Golshifteh Farahani is also back as support for Rake in the form of Nik Khan. Sam Hargrave is back as director, along with producers like Patrick Newall and Joe and Anthony Russo. Hargrave said in a statement:

“Our goal has always been to push the boundaries of action filmmaking, and with Extraction 3, we’re taking our biggest swing yet.”

The first movie was set in Dhaka, Bangladesh, though mainly shot in Thailand and India. The second film was set in Georgia, of the former USSR, and was shot in the Czech Republic and Austria. This time around, the filming is happening in Sydney, Australia, and South Coast of Australia before switching to Europe. No word on the intended location for the plot yet.

Extraction 3 arrives on Netflix some time in 2027, and you know you will be watching it.
