Final Trailer: COYOTE VS. ACME

When Warner Bros. Discovery decided to shelve the $70 million-budgeted Coyote Vs. Acme as part of a $30 million tax write-off, there were howls of outrage, not least from people who had seen it and said it was really good. After a while, children’s demand-TV powerhouse Ketchup acquired the worldwide rights, so now we get to see it, and the tax man is also happy.

The final trailer for the Looney Tunes movie has landed just as tickets go on sale.

Wile E. Coyote, after Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer named Kevin Avery (Will Forte) to sue the Acme Corporation for defective product liability.

Wile E. and his lawyer go against the megacorp and its intimidating former boss (John Cena), but a growing and unexpected friendship between man and cartoon stokes their determination to win.

The cast includes Lana Condor, P.J. Byrne, Tone Bell, Martha Kelly, and Luis Guzmán. Dave Green directs from a screenplay by Samy Burch. James Gunn and Chris deFaria are producers.

Coyote vs. Acme opens in cinemas on August 28th, and I feel a strange pull to go and see it. Maybe because it would heap some humiliation on those who tried to kill it?
