No Jean Grey In SPIDER-MAN

It has been an article of online faith for quite a while now that Jean Grey will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the form of Sadie Sink. It was also a similar article of online faith that Elliot Page was playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, so we know that the internet can get things wrong. Like the date of Kathleen Kennedy’s retirement, for instance.

Certain outlets had all but confirmed that Sink was the famed X-Men member.

It could still be the case. This could still be misdirection, but star Tom Holland has appeared to rule this out in an interview with  L’Orchestra Cinematique. He was asked directly, and he denied it directly.

Sadie-Sink

Holland has previous in the area of leaks. Marvel bosses are known to be very careful what they tell him, as he has a reputation for not being able to keep any secrets. He laughs about this frequently. When asked, he responded clearly:

“She is not in this movie, but it would be pretty cool.”

The opress out on the junkets are said to have been treated to a showing of 35 minutes of the movie, but none of this contains Sink’s character.

In the same round of press interviews, Holland confirmed to Onic Entertainment that the movie is, ultimately, very tragic:

“It’s very sad. I don’t know if it’s the best selling point of the movie…but it’s cathartic…but then also devastating.”

Uh-oh. It’s a fourquel, so a major supporting character might have to be sacrificed to the Cinema Gods for plot reasons. Place your bets?
