Sony Pictures has released a final trailer Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The sequel to 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is another big movie that cinemas are pinning their hopes on to get them through the current slump. Gil Kenan takes over directing duties from Jason Reitman. Retiman produces and co-writes with Kenan and Jason Blumenfeld.
The new movie follows on from Afterlife and sees the Spengler family leaving Oklahoma and returning to New York City. Revisiting the New York City firehouse home of the original Ghostbusters and the top-secret research facility of the veteran ‘Busters, they are called into action when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters, new and old, must join forces to save the world from destruction.
Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon return from Afterlife. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson return alongside Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz. No news on ghost Egon yet.
Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind co-star. In what could be fun, William Atherton returns as Walter Peck.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife made over $200 million worldwide from a $75 million budget in the half-open, post-pandemic world.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire opens in cinemas on March 22nd.
