Well, that’s Christmas for another twelve months. Now we are in the taint of the year – the bit in between – and nursing a biblical hangover so savage that even opening my eyes is painful, I suppose I’d better write something, anything.
I will have to be quick, as the consequences of having a belly full of ale, champagne, and assorted spirits from last night feel like they are about to happen to my toilet. I’d give it a few minutes before you go in there, if I was you. Possibly light a match.
So where to start out post-Xmas stupor? With a bit of Oscar-winning nihilism like Joker, perhaps?
Director Todd Phillips has revealed a couple of new pictures from Joker: Folie a Deux.
The villainous sequel stars a returning Joaquin Phoenix, this time paired with Lady Gaga.
In the pictures we see Phoenix’s Joker in his cell at Arkham Asylum, and Joker in full make up while Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn looks on.
Phillips posted the images on his Instagram feed along with the message:
“Wishing everyone a happy holiday and a beautiful new year”.
In the second part of Arthur Fleck’s story, the action will apparently unfold almost entirely within Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum, and will have musical elements.
Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson, and Jacob Lofland round out the cast of the DC Elseworlds project, outside of the DCU.
Joker: Folie a Deux will hit theaters on October 4th 2024.
