LANTERNS Huge For HBO

Variety has reported that the premiere of the DC Studios Lanterns has grabbed 9.3 million views in its first three days on HBO and HBO Max. That puts it as the most-viewed DC Studios project to date on the platforms, and into the top five shows on the platform, ever.

The bulk of the viewers were US-based, at 6.6 million.

For context, Dark Horizons reports that IT: Welcome to Derry scored 5.7 million U.S. viewers in the same timeframe, and The Penguin had 5.3 million over four days.

Talking about the show on Threads, DC Studios co-chief confirmed that the series will explain why there are multiple Green Lanterns on this planet. Aaron Pierre will also appear as John Stewart in the upcoming Superman sequel Man Of Tomorrow, which is nearing the end of principal photography in Atlanta.

The show stars Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, and Laura Linney, following a new Lantern John Stewart accompanying Hal Jordan (Chandler) investigating a murder in the American heartland.

Lanterns in an eight-episode season from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. It is rolling out weekly on HBO and HBO Max.
