Jonathan Majors has suffered one of the most spectacular career collapses I can recall in recent memory. He was the next big thing. He was flying high. The main villain for a whole new phase of Marvel, a well-received turn as the opponent in the Creed franchise, projects rammed in his pipeline, and talk of awards for Magazine Dreams.
Now, in a moment of madness, it has all gone.
Majors was convicted in mid-December of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault during a domestic dispute with his former partner, Grace Jabbari. He is set to be sentenced on February 6th and could face up to a year in jail. The moment the conviction was revealed, Marvel Studios dropped him within minutes.
Now another project has let him go. He was set to star as Dennis Rodman in the upcoming biopic 48 Hours in Vegas. CNN broke the news, and then Variety confirmed it. Majors is out.

The movie tells the story of Rodman’s legendary 48-hour session in Las Vegas in 1998 during the NBA Finals. He was a starting player for the Chicago Bulls when he asked coach Phil Jackson if he could take a 48-hour vacation in Vegas right in the middle of the scheduled NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. Jackson said OK, and two days of myth and legend were born.
In what sounds like a sports-based version of Get Him To The Greek, 48 Hours In Vegas will follow Rodman and the increasingly anxious assistant General Manager of the team as their relationship develops over the course of the wild two days.

The project was originally at Lionsgate, but they have stepped away too. The producers can shop it around.
