Principal photography has been completed on Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, and it is now in post-production. As it enters the next phase, some rumors have hit online, including that there is quite a tonal shift from the first Superman movie.
Having spent years complaining about how dour the DCEU was, awash with rain and greys, and taking itself seriously, the internet also didn’t respond well to Gunn’s lighter tone, labelling it “Guardians of Metropolis“.

Now, an online rumor is spreading, starting with Mundos da DC, then Max Blizz, and as reported by Dark Horizons, that there is a tonal shift within Man Of Tomorrow. The film has a different Director of Photography and a different look. The overall tone of this is said to be darker as Superman faces a huge challenge. The tonal shift is said to be as per Guardians Of The Galaxy to Guardians Of The Galaxy 3, including what it will put some characters through.
The rumors say the tone is “considerably more mature, dense, and epic” and includes quite a lot of Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor to do, including a prison brawl featuring the character.
Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart is said to have a substantial role, straight from Lanterns, and the rumors also say Adria Arjona is definitely playing Wonder Woman / Diana Prince. Clark’s father’s health is failing, with him now wheelchair-bound.
Brainiac’s design and demeanour is said to be horrific and unsettling.
We will find out if this is all just rumor come July 9th next year, when Man of Tomorrow arrives in cinemas.
