Michael Bay Making More TRANSFORMERS

The first of the Transformers movies was fun. You have giant robots, a fun script, and Megan Fox (see picture below). Then it turned into a franchise. I couldn’t tell you anything about the rest of them.

According to an insider, Matthew Belloni, Bay is talking to Paramount and looking to direct a new Transformers movie. It turns out that Paramount have to make another movie about the robots in disguise by 2029, or risk losing the franchise rights.

The movies peaked at the box office at Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon (2011), making £1.1 billion. The previous movie, Age of Extinction (2014), made just under that total. The last Transformers movie, Rise of the Beast (2023), made $400 million.

The last time Bay was in the director’s chair for a Transformers movie was The Last Knight (2017), making $600 million.

Bay had previously said that he wouldn’t return as a director, so this is a surprise to most people. According to reports, Bay has been working with Paramount on the movie for the past year.

No, I won't be making any more of them. Sorry, how much?
No, I won’t be making any more of them. Sorry, how much?

According to other reports, there are five more Transformers movies in the works:

  • This Michael Bay project
  • A live-action movie from Transformers One director
  • A crossover with G.I. Joe
  • Two other ideas that are in ‘early development’

I’m sure I read that Bay originally said he had about 14 ideas for other Transformers movies. It’s not so much ‘Robots in disguise’, more like ‘Robots in your eyes’. Am I right, guys? Guys?

Please help keep the lights on at the Last Movie Outpost, if you can spare a few bucks.
