As we enter the second half of August, it means one of my favorite times of the year is upon us. The summer movie season is drawing to a close. But don’t be sad… the fall and winter TV season is therefore about to get underway. All the good stuff comes out as the nights draw in and people stay at home. The new season of Reacher already started on Amazon Prime two nights ago, and soon there will be season 2 of MobLand.
MobLand really was one of the best new shows last year. The Guy Ritchie-produced show demonstrated that he is still really comfortable on familiar turf, but he also has developed quite an edge.
The show was, in turns, both hilarious and really nasty, in a good way. It all centered on Tom Hardy’s fantastically chilling, yet very human and understated performance as Harry DeSouza, fixer to North London crime dynasty, the Harrigan family.
Now, Paramount+ has released the trailer for the second season. Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan return as the matriarch and patriarch of the Harrigans.
Following on from the events of season 1, the fallout has consequences as the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their criminal empire. Harry must once again do everything in his power to protect the family while walking a dangerous tightrope across the criminal landscape of the city, just as tensions within the family threaten to explode.
MobLand returns on Paramount+ on September 18th.
Autumn beckons, and finally there is something good to watch on television again! If anyone wants me, I will be on my couch.
