You have to almost feel sorry for movie publicists. They go to enormous lengths to control what gets revealed, and when, to potential audiences. Then, some Japanese product manager at a cranberry juice company doesn’t get the memo and, BOOM, the internet does the rest! Madame Web just suffered this fate.
So now that the images have leaked, Sony Pictures isn’t shy about sharing more from Madame Web. Now that Dakota Johnson’s Cassandra Webb has been revealed in costume, so have all the other main members of the cast. We are getting four Spider-Women for the price of one.
They have released a new image showing Isabela Merced as Arana/Anya Corazon, Sydney Sweeney as Spider-Woman/Julia Carpenter, and Celeste O’Connor as Spider-Woman/Mattie Franklin in the film.
All four were also seen in the promotional poster that was released earlier this week, following the juice leak. New TV spots for the movie have also been rolled out.
Madame Web is said to be a suspense-driven thriller. It stars Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.
Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts, Mike Epps, Adam Scott, and Zosia Mamet round out the main cast in the S. J. Clarkson-directed movie.
Madame Web opens in theaters on February 16th.
