What movie immediately comes to mind when you think of New York City? Taxi Driver? The Avengers? Miracle on 34th Street? Spider-Man? The Godfather?
Maid in Manhattan? No judgements, I promise. Well, maybe a little.

For me, there can be only one. No, not Highlander. Highlander is partly set in New York, but it also features London dressed up as New York.
For me, New York is these guys:

I recently got the opportunity to travel to The Big Apple for the first time. Aside from the obvious tourist hot spots (Lady Liberty, Empire State, 911 memorial), the places I really wanted to see were Ghostbusters locations. Here is what I found.
Ghostbusters Headquarters – FDNY Ladder 8
Located on North Moore Street in downtown Manhattan, this working firehouse provided the exterior shots for the Ghostbusters headquarters. It retains the Ghostbusters sign out front to this day. Here it is in the movie and in 2026:

Dana Barrett’s apartment block
Located at 55 Central Park West, between 65th and 66th Streets in Manhattan, this imposing Art Deco building provided the location for Dana’s apartment block, where the final showdown against Gozer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man takes place.

New York Public Library
Located on 5th Avenue, I stumbled across this one by accident. Sometimes the Universe provides.

The Lego Store
Finally, also on 5th Avenue, the Lego Store has this nice model of the firehouse.

Anyway, that was my New York Ghostbusters experience. Time to re-watch the movie now.
