Colony is a title that may remind you to schedule your next colonoscopy. It is also a new zombie movie from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho.
Train of Busan was well received. Can Sang-ho strike gold again with Colony?
It’s plot is thus:
A biotechnology professor, Se-jeong, is in attendance at a biotech conference that erupts into chaos with the release of a rapidly mutating virus. The outbreak results in the transformation of infected individuals, prompting authorities to seal off the facility and trap survivors inside with an escalating threat.
It could be fun. Korean filmmakers are generally respected for bringing the goods.

Colony
According to Wikipedia, The initial concept for Colony centered on emphasizing the suspense generated by the constant shifting of roles.
The zombies, being in a state of constant evolution, inevitably undergo changes, while human characters are assigned missions akin to a game. This necessitates role-switching to achieve survival. Zombies in the film, possess mechanisms for interaction, and as the infection spreads and their numbers increase, their thinking speed accelerates and intelligence strengthens. However, their thought processes, learning patterns, and failure modes diverge significantly from humans, creating an eerie, unconventional nature that’s uniquely theirs. Meanwhile, the humans battling them adapt, forging a distinct form of existence.
That makes it sound like these zombies will be fast and smart and not shambling ghouls.
Whether or not a person is a purist about such things may be the dealbreaker. For now, feast your eyes on the teaser and see where you fall on the opinion scale. It is scheduled for an August release in theaters.
