Ghostbusters: Afterlife was initially met with a positive response. It was nice to see the four originals back together on screen, and it respected the legacy. It certainly didn’t completely Amber Heard the bed, like Ghostbusters 2016.
Then, after a while and a little thinking about it, the glow seemed to fade, and there isn’t really much there. I have seen the latest – Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire – but I couldn’t tell you a damn thing about it. I vaguely remember a spikey dude attacking the firehouse with frost?

Anyway, the franchise is not going to be allowed to simply die. There are two animated projects set around Ghostbusters in the works at Netflix. There is the 1990s-set Ghostbusters: Night Shift, and the animated film Ecto, also at Netflix, which is told from a ghost’s perspective.
The big news is that a new live-action film is reportedly in development at Sony Pictures, according to a report by DanielRPK.
The working title is Ghostbusters: Nightmare on 34th Street, meaning it could be Christmas-themed. It is being written by Josh Miller (Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Violent Night).
