The Earth is always in trouble; this time, it’s the sun, again. However, never fear, Ryan Gosling is here to save the day in Project Hail Mary.
I have to say, this looks like fun. Project Hail Mary stars Gosling, Sandra Huller, Liz Kingsman, Ken Leung, James Wright, Milana Vaytrub, and James Ortiz. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directing, from a book by Andy Weir.
The blurb is:
An astronaut tries to save Earth while alone in outer space.
Gives away a lot, doesn’t it? It seems the trailer has more of the story in there. Calling the mission Gosling call the mission a Hail Mary, or a one-in-a-million shot. Having Lord and Miller involved, it’s got that gentle comedy in there as well.
Side note, I knew I had seen Huller before. She was in the German movie I reviewed, Two to One, which, if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend.
Project Hail Mary is being produced by MGM and headed for IMAX cinemas. I’m guessing it will look something like Gravity on the big screen.
The writer, Weir, is also known for the novel and the movie, The Martian. Another ‘guy lost in space’ movie. To be fair, The Martian was an interesting movie. And I’m not just saying that because Jessica was in it.
The annoying thing about Project Hail Mary is that it’s not due out until the 20th of March next year. That’s ages away!
