SKIBIDI TOILET Is Really A Thing?

Over a year ago, there was a rumor that Michael Bay was creating a movie based on the internet phenomenon that is Skibidi Toilet. These reports were vociferously denied by Bay and his camp.

Well, it turns out that maybe they weren’t exactly telling the truth. Former Paramount Pictures president Adam Goodman had confirmed they were developing the project. In a report on Dark Horizons, that quotes the Variety podcast from summer 2024, Goodman said:

“We are absolutely in talks right now, both on the television side and the earliest conversations right now on the film side.”

Goodman had also said Skibidi Toilet could develop into the next Transformers or Marvel franchise.

First reaction on reading this was to check the dates, but this story surfaced again yesterday. It was driven by Puck News saying that Bay is “definitely developing” the Skibidi Toilet movie. Bay hasn’t directed a movie since 2022.

Skibidi Toilet was originally a short video uploaded to YouTube in February 2023, in which a head emerges from a toilet and starts singing. Somehow, this birthed a cultural phenomenon that grew to depict an escalating war between the Toilets and the Cyborgs, with more than 80 videos.

I was about to launch into a rant about how kids these days are dumb, and Hollywood is even dumber for pandering to them like this. Then I remembered that we had a Garbage Pail Kids movie when we were younger.

Bay is also still attached to a film adaptation of classic SEGA arcade game Out Run.
