Overall, Spider-Noir had a score on Shill Central Rotten Tomatoes of 92% and 11 Emmy nominations. The overall reception was good, and everyone wanted more. Well, tough luck. Season 2 has been cancelled by Amazon.
Spider-Noir was the first Marvel-related series to premiere on Amazon. This was a pact with Sony Pictures TV to develop characters and stories from “Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters”.
Sony says they have over 900 Marvel characters associated with the Spider-Man franchise. 900? Another series is due to be announced at some point, just not Noir.
Spider-Noir was based on the Marvel comic character Spider-Man Noir, and he was first seen in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. This first series was set in the Great Depression and stars Nick Cage as Ben Riley. Ben is a seasoned, down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York.
He was forced to grapple with his past life and become the city’s one and only superhero.
So, Spider-Noir has been cancelled, but we can all take solace that Amazon still have Rings of Power season 3 coming out. It’s like these companies don’t even care about making money.
I’m sure I read that Amazon have 5 seasons planned for Rings of Power. They have created a crappy show, but my goodness, they are sticking with it. It would be impressive if it wasn’t so tragic.
