THE BATMAN: PART II Sets Another Production Date

Back in April we reported that The Batman: Part II was delayed yet again. We postulated that, with James Gunn and Peter Safran now in post with their singular vision for the DCU, and with the Elseworlds brand already critically wounded by Joker: Folix A Deux, the entire project could just be killed off forever.

Pattinson booked Dune: Messiah in while he was waiting, rapidly ageing out of the “Young Batman” role he was hired to portray, while the creatives behind this seemingly couldn’t get anything to land.

Then it became known that director Matt Reeves was dealing with a serious personal issue that was also delaying the start. Warner Bros. wanted to move forward, so they might have to do it without him.

This could now be happening, as industry production bible Production Weekly has now scheduled the movie in its latest bulletin. It will start production in March 2026 in London.

That is nearly a year away, and will be four years since the first movie was released. This also means release will be 2027 at the earliest. By then, the DCU could be well underway and The Batman will have faded far from the minds of the audience.

Warner Bros. remains seemingly unable to organise a wine tasting at a vineyard.

Interestingly, the listing credits Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin as the film’s writers. It lists the production manager, the director of photography, the producers, and so on. It does not mention the director. Does this mean that Reeves is out, and Warner Bros. will be moving forward with another in the chair?

The Batman: Part II is presently slated for an October 1st 2027 release.
