The Conjuring is getting out of hand, it’s now a universe. The newest in the series is The Conjuring: Last Rites and there is a trailer online.
This new Conjuring movie has Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga back, joined by Madison Lawlor, Ben Hardy, Elliot Cowan, Beau Gadsdon, Peter Wight and Kate Fahy. Michael Chaves directs, who is no stranger to the franchise. The scariest thing he’s worked on was a music video for Billie Eilish, which even I’m too scared to watch.
The Conjuring movies are based on some of the real life events of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were Ghostbusters. Not fun Ghostbusters, like the original movie, but all serious and not funny, like the 2016 version.
According to the trailer, this was the Warren’s last case, somehow, I get the impression they’ll be back. The story for this movie is:
Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one last terrifying case involving mysterious entities they must confront.
Which is the same plot as the last one, and the one before that. Sorry if I sound a little glib, but as I said, the Conjuring is getting out of hand, it’s now a ‘universe’. Movies include 3 Conjuring movies, 3 Annabelle movies and 2 Nun movies.
I think I have seen them all, but nothing stands out among them. Sure, they have a few scares, but I’ve yet to see a Blumhouse movie that really scares the pants off me.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will be in cinemas on the 5th of September.
