Everybody I speak to seems to be looking forward to a new movie in The Mummy franchise. Mostly because everyone seems to really like Brendan Fraser and wants to see him do well. The fourth movie is inching closer, and now Universal Pictures has announced that it has a full title – The Mummy: Book of the Dead.
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprise their roles after many years away as former French Foreign Legion soldier Rick O’Connell and English Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell. Maria Bello took on the Evie role in the third movie, as Weisz was off shooting something like The Tree of Life.
Also returning are John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, Kevin J. O’Connor as Beni Gabor, and Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay. Michael Johnston joins the cast.
The new movie is directed by a duo who call themselves Radio Silence – Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The script was written by David Coggeshall. Producers are Sean Daniel, William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, Clayton Townsend, and Paul Neinstein.
The Mummy: The Book Of The Dead will be released in theaters on October 15th 2027.
