Sigh. I had to review The Strangers this time last year, and I didn’t like it. The bad news was that they had already signed up to make three of them. Here is a trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2.
Well, I stand corrected! This first one was terrible, but this one looks way much bett…no, I can’t do that with a straight face. They signed for a three-movie deal, so there is this Chapter 2 and a Chapter 3 on the way.
I’m guessing they should have seen the first one before agreeing to that.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 stars Gabriel Basso, Richard Brake, Madelaine Petsch, Rachel Shenton, Ema Horvath, Froy Gutierrez, and other people. Who is from the first movie? Don’t know, don’t care.
Renny Harlin be directs all three of these movies. Alan R. Cohen, Alan Freedland and Amber Loutfi are the writers.
More of the Same
The first of The Strangers movies originally came out in 2008. The story was ‘based on a true story’ about three psychotic home invaders. There was also The Strangers: Prey at Night in 2018, which I only know about from Wikipedia.
Chapter 1 came out in 2024 and is set in the same universe as the 2008 movie. Everything has to be in a universe lately, there is even the Poohniverse, based on the public domain characters that Disney made famous.
The story for Chapter 2 is the same as the first one, as listed on the IMDb. They couldn’t even be bothered to update it, which says a lot. After the events of the first movie, one of the characters, Maya (I think, I can’t remember), survives. However, this is only the start of her nightmare. As I said in my review, she’s pretty, but dumb.
The Strangers: Chapter 2 will be released on the 26th of September. I kind of want to see it, in the same way I enjoyed ripping the urine watching Snow White.
