Who doesn’t love a giant beastie in a movie? I have always been partial to a giant shark. We all know that Hawkzino is powerless to resist a giant spider movie. But can a giant snake get any love (fnarr-fnarr!). or should we Beware Boiúna!?
Beware Boiúna has flown completely under our radar here at LMO, until now. Lionsgate has now dropped a full trailer, and it was reported via Dark Horizons.
Beware Boiúna stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Kiana Madeira (Fear Street), and Logan Marshall-Green (The Odyssey). It follows them deep into the Amazon, as their medical mission spirals into a fight for survival when Boiúna, a colossal ancient predator, awakens to reclaim her domain.
This is played as a straight horror, unlike the recent meta-Anaconda, or the somewhat campy original that remake was based on.
There is some decent horror talent behind the camera. Mike P. Nelson (Wrong Turn, Silent Night, Deadly Night) directs from a script by Alan B. McElroy (Halloween 4). Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer produce the film.
The dudes over at JoBlo said this was the greatest killer snake movie of all time.
Beware Boiúna opens next Friday, October 2nd.
