Back last winter, Warner Bros. Discovery chief David Zaslav confirmed that Gremlins 3 had finally been greenlit. At the time, a November 2027 release date was mooted. Of course, since then, the Paramount ship has hoved into view, and a few things have changed over at Burbank.
Gremlins 3 remains greenlit, though. There has just been a change of release date, which Warner Bros. has announced along with the teasiest of teasers. The short video, released via their X.com channel, confirms that Gremlins 3 will now be released on October 6th 2028.

The original film’s writer Chris Columbus, who would use the movie as a springboard to a career stocked with hits like Harry Potter, Home Alone, and Mrs. Doubtfire, is returning to direct and also as a producer. The script is from Final Destination: Bloodlines writers Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein.
The 1984 film was famous for its ability to seamlessly blend comedy and horror. Back then, it grossed $151 million domestically from a budget of just $11 million. The sequel fared less well, but over time fans have found new appreciation for the sheer weirdness of the sequel, with some rating it higher than the first for it’s blacker than black comedic tone and borderline meta approach.
Steven Spielberg is also returning as executive producer via Amblin Entertainment.
