M Night Shyamalan has another ‘otherworldly’ movie coming out next year, Remain. Here is a new trailer.
You can see why I used the term ‘otherworldly’ now. Remain stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, Julie Hagerty, Tracy Ifechor, Jay O. Sanders, Maria Dizzia, and, of course, M Night himself.
Shyamalan is directing and penning the script while Nicholas Sparks pens a novel of the same title. Rather than a novelisation of the movie, or a movie from the novel, Shyamalan and Sparks have been telling their own version of Remain. An interesting experiment.
I kept seeing Sparks’ name everywhere but had to look him up. When I did, I understood why I never heard of him. His books have become movies like Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, and The Notebook. I’ve never seen any of these movies, as I’m not a girl.
The story for Remain is:
A grieving architect moves to Cape Cod for work after leaving a psychiatric facility. While staying at a historic B&B, he meets a mysterious woman who makes him question his rational beliefs about life and loss.
I’m guessing Remain will be a movie you need to watch with a box of tissues – and no, not like that.
Remain will be in theatres on Valentine’s Day 2027.
