The buzz around Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is still rattling around, with many calling it a contender for movie of 2025. There is more to come from the world of Frankenstein and his iconic monster. Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered a full trailer for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new directorial effort, The Bride.
In The Bride, a lonely Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale) travels to 1930s Chicago to ask groundbreaking scientist Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening) to create a companion for him.

The two revive a murdered young woman, and The Bride (Jessie Buckley) is born. What ensues is beyond what either of them imagined.
The film co-stars Penelope Cruz, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Peter Skarsgaard. It is a “reimagining” of James Whale’s iconic 1935 classic Bride of Frankenstein. Maggie Gyllenhaal directs from her own screenplay.
Gyllenhaal also produces alongside Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Talia Kleinhendler, and Osnat Handelsman Keren. Gyllenhaal has recently put more focus on directing, and this follows her 2021 directing debut on psychological drama The Lost Daughter.
The Bride is released in cinemas on March 4th, 2026.
