WARHAMMER Makes Major Signing

There is something kind of magnificent about the fact that Henry Cavill, somebody who many ladies (and a few men) would judge as one of the sexiest men alive, spends his weekends painting small figures and rolling dice. His Warhammer 40,000 passion is well-known.

This is why he has been the driving force behind getting a Warhammer 40K adaptation as far along as it is.

Now, the whole project looks like it really is kicking into high gear as news breaks of a major creative signing.

Deadline reports that none other than Mike Flanaghan could be coming on board as executive producer, potential showrunner and director.

This is good news, as the “Grimdark” tone alongside the supernatural and fantastical elements of the Warhammer universe require a deft touch to blend properly.

Flanagan, well-versed in such things with a horror vibe, is a good pick.

Doctor Sleep, Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House, the Carrie remake, the script for Clayface… this is another entry on an impressive resume.

The report takes the information from a Games Workshop earnings report that says Flanagan has joined the creative team and has finished its preliminary story outlines.

Kevin Roundtree, Chief Executive of Games Workshop, also reportedly confirmed that Henry Cavill and Vertigo remain involved as they have been for some time, so this is augmentation, not replacement.

Cavill has been working on Warhammer 40K alongside Amazon MGM studios for more than three years.
