Weekend Box Office Comes Out Storming

One is a small bundle of energy that causes mayhem wherever he goes, and ther other is Stitch the alien. Tom Cruise and Disney did battle this weekend at the global box office, and there was only going to be one winner.

It’s been a good weekend for the movie industry in general as Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch and Paramount’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning have mounted a dual assault on the box office and people are turning out.

It has been the best Memorial Day weekend ever at the domestic box office with a $322 million take.

Lilo

Lilo & Stitch, predictably, won the contest with $56.3 million overseas from 3 days and a domestic take of up to $183 million. It is already sitting at nearly $342 million worldwide.

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has beaten the opening of Fallout with $77 million domestic and $204 million global.

Final Destination: Bloodlines, Thunderbolts, and Sinners make up the rest of the top five, contributing to that record breaking total.
