Remember back when everything Marvel was shiny, and they could do no wrong? Remember how awesome the Netflix Daredevil show was? LMO remembers. Well, as part of their efforts to course correct and bring some quality back to the post-Endgame MCU, Daredevil is back. The Netflix show is… erm… born again!
As part of a trailer spotlighting Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ releases, there was a 20-second teaser for Daredevil: Born Again.
The new show will see Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock once again face off against Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. Both of them were excellent in the show and have appeared in some Marvel projects since, but havent’t been on screen together since the third season of the original Daredevil show, which was released in 2018.
The teaser picks up a number of threads from the original series, with glimpses shown of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Kingpin referencing Murdock’s “darker half” which confirms he understands Murdock’s nocturnal activities.
There was also potentially a glimpse of Wilson Bethel’s Benjamin Poindexter, AKA Bullseye, fighting Daredevil at the 14-second mark.
A return to the tone and focus of the original Daredevil series on Netflix would be welcome in the current MCU. We wait and see how this course correction plays out. The original Netflix show is now all available under the Legacy Marvel section on Disney+.
The relaunched show arrives in March next year.
