French Court Closes Real Debrid

If you haven’t heard of Real Debrid, then good for you. If you have heard of it, you probably know this news already as it’s everywhere right now.

Real Debrid is mostly used for downloading and streaming torrents. As we all know, torrenting movies is bad, it breaks copyright law and hurts studios and content makers. For example, torrenting a Disney show would mean Disney wouldn’t see any money for it.

Here at the Last Movie Outpost, we obviously would never condone such behavior. If you were to ‘steal’ from Disney, it would impact them greatly and cost people their jobs. Personally, I would hate to see someone like Leslye Headland lose her job because of someone torrenting her work.

Back on point, one of the biggest debrid services was Real Debrid. They recently tweeted:

In a nutshell, RD is based in France and the French government has told them to stop sharing content on their service. They have been going for about 14 years and now it seems people will have to move to another service.

There are a lot of debrid services, and one of the other most popular is AllDebrid. The downside is that they are also based in France. People are suggesting it won’t be long before they go the same way.

Shutting down a service like Real Debrid is a kick in the pants to people who like to use their services. So far, their service has become limited or even shut off. I read this online, from other people, who do use its service. Personally, I would never dream of it. Imagine streaming any movie or TV show, without adverts and at no extra cost?

Will this spell the end of torrents or illegal streaming? Or will it just mean people will have to get cleverer about how they would ‘watch for free’?

Just to reiterate, we do not condone the use of any debrid services. However, if you were to use them, where might you go? Hypothetically speaking.
