Long rumored to be heading to the MCU, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has officially joined the cast of Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4.
According to the report in Deadline the details of her role are under wraps. This is where it potentially gets interesting. Sink has frequently been linked with the Jean Grey role in the upcoming MCU version of X-Men. That X-Men project is said to be in active development for a potential late-2027 release.
Does this mean Jean Grey will be introduced in Spider-Man 4?
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is taking over from Jon Watts for this one, and working from a script by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. These are all MCU old hands, so well-used to operating within the framework and dealing with interlinked stories from other movies.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ. The MJ role is expected to be smaller this time around. Is that because Zendaya is in demand, or because the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home have fundamentally changed things in the MCU?
Holland is currently filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and will move straight to Spider-Man 4 when that is completed. Holland has already said that Spider-Man 4 will be different to anything they have done before.
All we know other than this is that Spider-Man 4 takes place between the next two Avengers movies and it opens in cinemas on July 31st, 2026.
