In the least surprising bit of news since Epstein not killing himself in prison comes a report confirming that, yes, Braniac will be the main villain in Man Of Tomorrow. A new report in The Wrap says it is a done deal.
So now we know. Brainiac will be the threat that forces Superman (David Corenswet) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) into forging a temporary alliance. Writer and director James Gunn already teased this when he posted an image of the front of his script for the sequel, showing a skull with its brain showing.
Braniac has appeared in many forms across many Superman adaptations, but never in a live-action feature film.
Brainiac is commonly depicted as a superintelligent android or cyborg from the planet Colu who is obsessed with collecting all knowledge in the known universe. He travels the galaxy and shrinks cities to bottle size for preservation on his skull-shaped spaceship before destroying their source planets, believing the knowledge he acquires to be most valuable if he alone possesses it.

Among these shrunken cities is Kandor, the capital of Superman’s home planet Krypton, and Brainiac is even responsible for Krypton’s destruction in some continuities.
Elsewhere in the world of Superman, Frank Grillo has also confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that his character of Rick Flag Sr. will play a major role in the sequel.
Man Of Tomorrow shoots in Atlanta from April ahead of a July 9th 2027 release.
