Something For The Weekend

The weekend thread is late today, because it’s the weekend. That and I had terrible insomnia last night and had to sleep in. I’m old, I can do what I want!

Now that the weekend is here, here are some suggestions for your viewing enjoyment.

  • Earth vs the Flying Saucers (1956) – Movie – I thought this was going to be a cheesy B-Movie, but it was really good.
  • The Roses – Movie – The new take on War of the Roses. It was perfectly mid, had some funny moments, but nothing outstanding.
  • The Long Walk – Movie – The newest Steven King novel-to-movie. Again, mid, nothing great about it.
  • The Hand that Rocks the Cradle – Movie – The new one and instantly forgettable, watch the original.
  • The Haunting (1963) – Movie – One of my all-time favourite movies and a brilliant horror movie.
  • Ride the Eagle – Indie movie – Pretty lame.
  • Dodgeball – Movie – Still hilarious.

  • Strange Harvest – Indie movie – A sleeper hit, see our review.
  • HIM – Movie – Again, a sleeper hit, it goes batshit crazy at the end.
  • A House of Dynamite – Movie – A pointless watch, again, see our review.
  • Talented Mr Ripley – Movie – An underrated thriller with Jude Law and MATT DAMON.
  • Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man – Movie – Bikes and broads, love it.
  • Quo Vadis (1951) – Movie – Epic in every sense of the word and very good.
  • Dead of Winter – Movie – Emma Thompson does Taken, but really badly, don’t bother.
  • Interstellar – Movie – Still a great piece of work from Nolan.
  • Welcome to Derry – TV series – Gave it one episode, laughed at the flying bat baby, never watched the rest.

There you go, there are some things to watch over the weekend. What are you watching?
