Loki returns for a second season Disney+ this Friday. The first season left us on a cliffhanger. Loki’s travels and battles through time had led him to He Who Remains, a Kang variant who was seemingly responsible for keeping all the other Kang variants trapped. Events of the first season removed this safety, and Kang is no longer contained.
The second season picks up directly after that season finale and Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. The removal of He Who Remains has destabilized the multiverse and sent Loki into uncontrollable time-slipping.
Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15, and the rest of the team, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, and Miss Minutes. Along the way he will discover what it means to possess true free will and glorious purpose.
These reviews seem split. Some reviewers are really going for what Loki is, as a show, trying to do. Others seem to find it too cerebral. This second season is currently at 78% (6.9/10) on Rotten Tomatoes. Season one scored 92% (7.9/10). Loki was the third Disney+ MCU show, following WandaVision and Falcon And The Winter Soldier.
