First, it looks like she isn’t going to be in Wonder Woman 3; this is her thoughts on the subject.
As you know, Gadot is Wonder Woman. The same way that Hugh Jackman is Wolverine, or any of the actors playing James Bond.
The first Wonder Woman movie was a hit and gave us something we haven’t seen in a while: a well-written female lead who went through a character arc. The second movie, WW84, however, was so bad that Patty ‘I want creative control’ Jenkins hasn’t worked since.
The DCU is in a bit of a mess. They wanted to try and do what the MCU did, with Snyder in, then out, then back in again. Henry Cavill was in, then out again. Ben Affleck changed to Robert Pattinson for Batman, and everyone ignored The Flash.
Then James Gunn, the almighty lord and saviour, was brought in. So far, his attempts to re-launch the DCU have gone as well as pretty much every other franchise at the moment.
Gadot Won’t Be Wonder Woman anymore
Gadot said she spoke to James Gunn and Peter Safran, who told her they were looking to develop Wonder Woman 3, but without her. Gadot spoke with Happy Sad Confused about the entire ordeal.
Josh Horowitz, the host of Happy Sad Confused, asked Gadot if Gunn and Safran had told her that she would not be back as Wonder Woman:
“They told me the opposite. They were like, ‘We’re going to develop it with you.’ But I saw the way everybody else was handled, right? The Henry situation was not handled elegantly, to say the least. Same with Patty [Jenkins]. [It] was not handled elegantly.”
Despite how things have gone, Gadot continued she was:
“…so grateful that I got the opportunity to wear these boots and to have the character be so celebrated and be the vessel at that point in time. And I can only wish for whoever one it’s going to be to really, you know, come pure to this journey. Because as much as it’s, like—we’re talking about movies and superheroes and blah blah blah—but this character really means so much to so many of us, to really use it respectfully and bring all the love and light it can to this world, and then enjoy the ride. It was never mine. I was always just a vessel.”
So, who do you think will take over as Wonder Woman? I’m thinking Idris Elba; he has the range. This image is to make up for the one above…just to even things out.
