Good morning, Outposters. How is your Monday shaping up? Are you ready for the prospect of a new week, ready to grab life by the throat and face the week with passion? Or are you hoping someone will move Monday to a different day?
Hopefully, you had a good weekend and saw something good, inspiring and entertaining. Maybe you found a movie that was the equivalent of watching Monday: The Musical. Let us know in the comments.
Starman
Last week, John Carpenter’s Starman (1984) popped up on TV, so I had to watch it again this weekend. I remember it being one of my dad’s favourite movies, and watching it again was great.
The two leads, Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen, are amazing in it. Bridges is playing a ‘human alien’, here to observe the human race. While Allen is ‘girl bossing’ it, but done in that good way, not the modern way.
Funny how what men write female characters, they are well-rounded out and you get invested in them. Today, when females write female characters, they are usually very unlikeable. It’s like if a female wrote Monday.
I had also forgotten the amazing soundtrack to Starman. Listen to this amazing piece from the end credits, it will help you get through this Monday.
I think I will dig a little more into Starman and do a more in-depth review or a behind-the-scenes about it, it was one of those very underrated Carpenter movies.
Anyway, enough from me, how was your weekend? Did you watch anything exciting? Have a good moan this Monday, let the hate flow through you!
