New Showrunners for MONARCH Season 3?

A report over at Variety says that talks are underway between Legendary Television and Apple TV for a third season of Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters.

The second season aired earlier this year, and it remains one of Apple TVs most popular shows. According to the report, there are plans for a bit of a shake-up, including new characters coming in, and new writers and a new showrunner. The second season ended on something of a cliffhanger with the appearance of a major Titan from Godzilla lore.

Matt Fraction and Chris Black were the creators of the original show, and Black has been showrunner for the last season. The report says that multiple individuals have been approached about potentially taking over showrunning the series, but no names have been revealed.

A spinoff series starring Wyatt Russell as Col. Lee Shaw is still going ahead, and will follow a mission in 1984 to prevent the Soviets from unleashing a new Titan. Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen, and Stana Katic co-star in the spin-off.

It may be that some characters make the jump from that show into the main show.

Joby Harold, Tory Tunnell, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville all executive produced the first two seasons. Harold is showrunner on the spin-off.

A new MonsterVerse movie – Godzilla vs. Kong: Supernova – will be out in 2027.
