Page THE ODYSSEY Role Revealed

And a lot of people will now feel very silly. A while back, one person somewhere on the internet made a joke that Elliot Page, the AFKA Ellen Page, would be playing legendary warrior Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Then the internet did its thing.

It became a fact, an unshakeable article of faith among certain online commentators. It was held up as the end of all things. The usual suspects did lengthy YouTube videos on it. They convened late-night roundtable discussions.

There were enough puzzling casting decisions in the movie without needing to, basically, make one up. But as this is the internet, it became a thing… until it wasn’t.

Now, a newly published final major cast list for The Odyssey has gone online, based on the voice dubbing actors taking on parts for Hungary. The report over at IGN Hungary has revealed that the Page will be playing is Sinon.

The character was named in Virgil’s Aeneid as Odysseus’ cousin who convinces the Trojans to bring the horse into the city by pretending to have been left behind by the Greeks, along with the horse as an offering.

The cast listing also reveals some interesting smaller roles:

Logan Marshall-Green is disloyal Ithacan goatheard Melanthius
Corey Hawkins is the wealthy Egyptian Polybus
James Remar is the blind Underworld prophet Tiresias
Himesh Patel is Odysseus’ incompetent brother-in-law Eurylochus
Mia Goth is disloyal Ithacan maidservant Melantho
Elyes Gabel is a warrior named Elatus
Bill Irwin as the voice of the Cyclops.

Missing from the list are Poseidon, Zeus, Hermes, and Helios as gods, and Cassandra, Aeolus, Nausicaa, and Achilles.

The Odyssey opens in cinemas everywhere on July 17th.
