RIP Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry became an angel yesterday at the tender age of 54. TMZ broke the news late last night and reported that Law enforcement sources tell them the actor was found Saturday and were told he appears to have drowned. TMZ sources say first responders rushed over after receiving a call for cardiac arrest.

Perry was obviously most famous for playing Chandler Bing in Friends from 1994 – 2004 alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer. Perry had a well-documented history of drug and alcohol abuse and only last year he embarked on a press tour for the release of his memoir: Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing: A Memoir.

In his book, he openly spoke about his battle with addiction which included a near-death experience in 2019 after his colon burst as a result of opioid use. However, he has been sober for many years and was applauded for his new healthy lifestyle that included daily workouts with a personal trainer, yoga sessions, walking, running, and something called Pickleball.

This is still a developing story and tributes from friends and costars continue to flood in. NBC Entertainment, the network that aired all 10 seasons of Friends said:

“He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”

Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s on-off love interest Janice (Oh. My. God.) shared a picture of them together on Instagram with the caption:

“What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

Even Canadian tyrant PM  Justin Trudeau, who was school friends with Perry posted:

“Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”

Rest in Peace Chandler Bing, could we be any more gutted?!
