Apple TV’s Slow Horses grabbed an Emmy earlier this week, for best directed drama series. The latest sixth season starts tonight on the streamer.
Everything in the Slow Horses garden seems rosey, as it has also now been renewed for an eighth season according to a story at The Hollywood Reporter.
The show gets to work this far out as it shoots well in advance of screening. The seventh season is already in the can and good to go, despite not being scheduled to air until the second half of 2027.
Meanwhile the eighth season, to be based on Mick Heron’s most recent novel in the series – Clown Town – will now shoot imminently.
There is one potential complication looming, one of the lead roles of River Cartwright is played by Jack Lowden, and he has recently been installed as a favourite for the role of James Bond in the upcoming new Amazon project.
Amazon want a Bond who will stick around for a while, and a regular cadence of movies, so if Lowden is picked, then his availability beyond the end of this year could be in question.
Adam Randall, who also won a directing Emmy for Slow Horses season four, will return for season eight.
