I know, I know, we’re all bored with Star Wars, with announcements, after rumours, after more announcements. Well, there seems to be new ‘news’ doing the rounds.
A new Star Wars trilogy has been announced. Yay! Another trilogy is on the way, after the cancellation of projects from Taika Waititi, Ruin Johnson, Josh Trank, Patty Jenkins, Kevin Feige, Damon Lindelof, J. D. Dillard, and many more.
I’ll start with the good ‘news’ about this new trilogy. It’s been announced that Jon Watts is set to direct Star Wars: Episode 10. OK, that’s not a bad thing; Watts is known for the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, well, up until No Way Home. He was also one of the creators of Skeleton Crew and directed a few episodes.
He’s a solid director, so this news isn’t all bad, but wait, dear Outposter, here’s the bad ‘news’.
The new Star Wars trilogy is being penned by Simon Kinberg. Now, Kinberg has written some good movies: Sherlock Holmes. Actually, that’s it; that’s his one good writing credit.
His other writing credits include: Jumper, X-Men: Last Stand, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Fantastic Four (the bad one), and The 355. Just to say how bad The 355 is: it’s got Jessica in it, I’ve seen it, and can tell you nothing about it now.
Skywalker Palpatine
On top of that bad ‘news’, there’s even more. Yes, the movie is being labelled as Star Wars: Episode 10. Yes, they plan to continue the Skywalker saga, even after they said this new trilogy was “all new”.
Breathe, Phil, breathe. Leia and Han are dead. Luke is dead, and he never got together with Mara Jade.. I think I remember Ben Solo, the only person who could take up the Skywalker name, is also dead. Is he dead? I honestly cannot remember the end of The Rise of Skywalker, and I have no reason to revisit it.
Basically, the bloodline of Skywalker was killed off, and Rey PALPATINE took the name over. All the good of the Original Trilogy was undone and shat on by Disney in the sequels. However, Daisy Ridley will be back and playing Rey Palpatine to carry on the Skywalker Saga.
