Superman

The SUPERMAN Teaser Trailer Is Here

It has been years. Since the Snyder Cut bitch fight at Warner Bros. Since The Rock most humbly declared “The balance of power is about to shift in the DCEU!” and Warner’s then made a complete mess of things by letting Cavill announce his return to the role before they were all brutally shut down. After the casting news, the production news, the costume reveal, the set photo leaks, the teaser for the teaser, the theme hints… finally, the teaser trailer for Superman just dropped.

No further messing around – here it is!

This week has been a non-stop cavalcade of Superman news out there on the internet, revealing a lot more about what to expect. Earlier this week James Gunn confirmed that star David Corenswet was behind the final decision to bring back the trunks, after all their previous concept versions were trunk-free.

“I was on the ‘no trunks’ team for a long time…

And one of the things David said is that Superman wants kids to not be afraid of him. He’s an alien. He’s got these incredible powers. He shoots beams out of his eyes, can blow the truck over. He’s this incredibly powerful, could be considered scary, individual and he wants people to like him. He wants to be a symbol of hope and positivity.

He dresses like a professional wrestler, he dresses in a way that makes people unafraid of him…”

For people concerned that Gunn’s previous approach to comic book movies for Guardians Of The Galaxy may overly influence his choices for Superman, he at least nixed the idea that this movie will feature any Guardian-style musical cues:

“It is a score, not a soundtrack. So, it’s not about the songs. There’s a few songs in it, and of course I chose those songs beforehand, but it isn’t like any of my previous movies, really … The score is what drives it. It’s a much, much more of a score film.”

The score is said to contain nods to John Williams’ classic theme. All involved agreed that you can’t have a character underpinned by one of the greatest scores in movie history and not pay homage to it.

A few more details about the movie have also been creeping out as the trailer drop approached. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Gunn framed the movie like this:

“We just start in the middle of the action. Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, although they don’t know each other personally. So we start right in the middle of the action. It takes place over a short amount of time.”

He has previously said that he took some inspiration from Game Of Thrones, where it is just a given and completely accepted that dragons and magic exist within this otherwise realistic historical setting. Here, superheroes simply exist in this world.

We know a lot of the flying scenes were shot with drones for Superman to lend a realism to the flying scenes, said to be inspired by what was achieved by Top Gun: Maverick.

So, there it is. More detail, some music, and a trailer. Let the arguments begin. To the Disqus!!
