D23 continues to roll, and so more news keeps coming from the over-enthusiastic devotees of the House Of Mouse. If Disney parks are now almost completely taken over by Disney Adults, then who is going to D23? Are these the platinum-tier Disney adults? Owners of diamante Mickey ears? Generous of waistline, with their husbands still masking up? Is it like ComicCon, but without the cosplay thot influencer interlopers?
Real talk: If an 8/10+ with the body of an AI-created sex-chatbot is at the Con, slinking around in a Spider-Man one-piece so well fitted you can tell what she had for breakfast, she’s just there for the clicks and the clout. She’s not there for you, my tubby Batman friend with your homemade utility belt that your mom helped you paint yellow.
Either way, now that everything from Fox to Marvel to Star Wars sits inside the Disney tent, it is where the biggest announcements about the biggest franchises are made, and this time around it was the turn of the X-Men.
After much speculation, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day giving everybody exactly what they expected re: Sadie Sink’s character, Marvel Studios and Disney have officially unveiled the central members of the new X-Men cast.
Here is the rundown:
Christopher Abbott as Professor X
Kit Connor as Cyclops
Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
Maya Boyd as Storm
Indie Navarette as Rogue
Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
Additionally, the villain in the form of Nathaniel Milbury/Mr. Sinister will be played by Adam Driver.
Just as intriguing are the names of famous team members not on this list. No Wolverine, Magneto, Mystique, Beast, Iceman, or Gambit. Of course, some of these names may be “rested” after appearances in numerous previous iterations. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, in particular, could be a hard fixture in peoples minds to push past after nearly 30 years in the role.
Sonny Lee Sung Jin (Beef) and Joanna Calo (The Bear) are currently script polishing Michael Lesslie’s draft, with Jake Schreier directing. Filming begins early next year for a May 5th 2028 release.
