Alien-Earth

Trailer: ALIEN: EARTH

Alien: Earth trailer is here!

It has that “whoo-ooh-ooh” sound from the first Alien movie trailer, so that’s cool. It also has a sheep, some sweet analog tech and that kid from that episode of Black Mirror that got in trouble for doing naughty things on his computer (Alex Lawther). Timothy Olyphant also seems to be turning into James Woods with his white coif.

Alien: Earth Setup

The original Alien movie takes place in 2122, so this new series happens a couple of years before we meet the crew of the Nostromo.

Noah Hawley is the showrunner; he is known as the creator of the Fargo and Legion series. He wanted to set Alien: Earth on Earth because:

“The alien stories are always trapped… Trapped in a prison, trapped in a space ship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ are more immediate.”

According to Variety, this new series will “explore the formation of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race to create android life.”

Ridley Scott is also involved as producer. Can he recapture some of that old Blade Runner magic? I might settle for some G.I. Jane magic at this point…

Alien: Earth also stars Essie Davis, Kit Young, Adarsh Gourav, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Lily Newmark, Adrian Edmondson, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, and Moe Bar-El.

The first two episodes will stream August 12.
