Milk it! MILK IT!!! The Avengers: Doomsday buzz ain’t going away any time soon, so Marvel Studios might as well ride the wave all the way until December. And milk it, they will, with Avengers: Endgame – Encore.
This was announced back at CinemaCon this past summer. It is essentially a re-release of Avengers: Endgame – the second-highest-grossing American movie of all time. This time, it will contain some extra footage that links directly to Avengers: Doomsday.
So kinda glossing straight over that whole Phase 4 & 5, “diversity phase” and Kang thing? OK, if you can pretend it never existed, then we don’t have to pretend to watch it ever again.
Marvel Studios has now premiered the trailer for the event that the directors tag as:
“…an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way, and because the movie was so successful, we have an opportunity to re-release it.”
Whatever struggles the MCU has had since the double-header of Infinity War and Endgame, they remain staggeringly entertaining and maintain a real sense of cinematic “event” that few films have managed to capture in recent times.
Avengers: Endgame – Encore is in cinemas September 25th while Avengers: Doomsday opens on December 18th. I can probably live without Encore, but you know we are all going to be in the theater for Doomsday. Why fight it?
